If you ask me, I’d say you should skip Dallas mini sessions altogether.
In my opinion you are wasting your money on mini sessions.
There I said it. Now let me tell you why.
Mini sessions are not just a shortened version of a full session.
They are totally different and will give you completely different results. Will you end up with good pictures of your family? Yes. Ones that you could slap on a Christmas card? Yes. But in my experience, that’s not what my clients are looking for. They are looking for photos that tell the story of their family. Photos that go beyond a pretty picture and actually evoke emotion. Photos that show you just as you are now, in this stage of life, with an aspect of raw and meaningful beauty.
You won’t find that from a Dallas mini session.
Mini sessions require just as much prep from you upfront so why not put all that effort into something really worth your time.
You spent the time planning and purchasing outfits. You organized everyone’s schedule and got everyone ready. As a mom of there, I know, it’s not an easy feat. And for what? A quick snapshot? Make it worth your while. Unless you’re taking family photos every weekend (doubtful) then why go through all the effort and not get everything you can out of it. Go all in. Get the full session.
Lastly, you are already investing a significant amount of money in your session, why not get something really truly unique and valuable from it.
It’s the same idea as buying a piece of furniture just to fill a spot in your home versus getting a piece that you truly love. Maybe it’s something that was passed down in your family or was handmade by a local artisan that makes it special. Either way, it’s not something you’re likely to get rid of any time soon (if ever) because it’s special, unique and meaningful. The same goes for your family photos. Sure you can get a good photo of your family and it’s special to you just because it’s of your family. But I’d argue those are replaceable. You probably have at least a handful of those, and you could also get one pretty easily by getting your neighbor to snap a shot of you on your way out the door. But ones uniquely made by an artist, someone who took the time to get to know your family and see you and your quirks. Those are irreplaceable. Those are treasures that you’ll keep forever and pass down for generations.
If you’re looking for unique treasures for your family, I’d be honored to work with you. Inquire about a session or just reach out to chat.
